Once again the marketing teams with a thankfully different approach have been at it again, and once more they deliver. This time it comes in the form of the new commercial for 'Always' and has them asking the question "what does it mean to "run like a girl" and more notably asking this question to teens and then later to younger girls. The result is staggering and while the goosebumps certainly get their morning work out it also leaves us with that somewhat uncomfortable feeling that we haven't quite caught up yet. But if the younger generation are anything to go by then there is certainly hope.
I think we all have a responsibility to the children around us (and to the adult in us, that has been clearly tweaked in the brain by social parameters) to cast off the old ideas of what a person can or can't do. This is not even about girls and boys anymore, it's bigger than that and it's part of a growing trend, that despite some strong efforts out there is still gaining momentum.
While we live in a frustrating world it's also exciting to be living through such a time of growth. Ideas that twenty years ago were considered radical are being taught to pre-schoolers alongside their colour charts.
