As the new week begins amid a particularly hot flash of emotion - and yes we all have those weeks, I found myself floundering amid all the happy quotes, books and feel good pictures. Sometimes there are just those situations when you are hit, full force, with a raw, this-is-gonna-hurt situation. And as you feel the emotional hit come and you see the ground approaching - as it were, you find your arms whirling around trying to hold onto something, something that will make this now inevitable fall easier. These are the times when it's not a simple slip up, when you don't just get a bruise. This time it's a broken bone and you know it before you even take a breath. This one isn't going to get fixed in a day.
And while you sit there, with that here-we-go again feeling that you may now face the trawl of self-discovery books something comes along that speeds it all up. A metaphorical bunch of flowers that make you see that not only are you not alone, but that you are not as bad as you think you are. Believe it or not.
Today my flowers came in the form of Elizabeth Gilbert - author of the beloved Eat, Pray, Love who in the following two videos on Oprah's SuperSoul Sunday series, just brings her wisdom and soothing balm to my life. If like me, your week didn't get off to the best start, or you just need something to make you smile and re-connect - then please, plug in, with some earphones, grab a glass of wine or a tea, and enjoy.
