Jo, Johnnette and Carrie, the morning the Little Love Letter Campaign began, having coffee at our best place, Alta. x
We started Mindful Apparel in 2011 and then almost one year later we found ourselves back where it all started in Orange County, California. After many margaritas, sun and early morning surf attempts, we found ourselves on the brink of the next idea.
We thought about the line, what our message was and where we wanted to go. Our main motivation was and always will be to get an idea out there. Even if we never sold a t-shirt the idea that we could influence even a few people's day by saying something kind or making them smile was our main focus.
We toyed with the idea of standing on the side of the road with placards saying "you're beautiful!" and "you're stronger than you know". But we were concerned we might cause a few accidents. Then over coffee one morning the idea of little love letters began. We loved the idea that they would be found by total strangers and that fate, The Universe, coincidence, God, whatever you believe in, would decide who would find them and when. We never imagined it would be such a blessed mission, right from the start.
The giggles that came from trying to be as inventive as we could be about where we left them were contagious. Nowhere was safe, and we Love Bombed everywhere!
One of the first love letters on that first morning at Alta, 2012.
Soon Little Love Letter templates were being printed up on home computers by strangers all over the world, and popping up in airports, on top of mountains, at the beach, hotels, trash cans, elevators and even restrooms. And then Twitter started to light up with people who had found our notes! We could never have believed how well timed, and apparently so needed they would end up being. Some responses moved us to tears, especially when we flooded the Boston Marathon with them.
Now our Little Love's have continued to grow all over the world and now inspire Mindful Apparel - how the tables turned. The future now looks to be even more designed by love that we would have ever thought, and we can't wait to see where our little letters take us next.
Thank you for being on this journey with us.
Carrie and Jo xxx (and our beautiful Johnnette - who made this idea and so many others become a reality)
Boston Marathon get's a whole lot of love in 2014!
